Labor senators revolted today against Bob Brown’s proposal to abolish the Federal veto over the Territory’s legislative decisions. The three senators said they were concerned about the Green’s agenda of passing equal marriage and euthanasia legislation. The Northern Territory already had a go at legalising euthanasia in the mid nineties and was successful, until a Federal member of parliament quashed the bill less than one year after it was passed. Marshall Perron was Northern Territory Chief Minister at the time.
