Indigenous Literacy Day is Wednesday 2 September, and we still find that in remote communities only 36% of year 5 children are at or above National minimum standards.  When the major city rate is at 96% this represents a significant gap.

The Indigenous Literacy Foundation lifts literacy levels with their Book Supply program.  Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander kids love books, but they just can’t get enough of them, and this program helps redress the balance.
