First Nations people are descending on Alice Springs due to rural medical crisis

In Alice Springs, a local elder says the town is coming under ever increasing pressure because there has been a failure to fund services in the surrounding areas. He says hospitals and other services are becoming stretched as a result. 

Arrente Arunda Elder, Graham Smith has set up a series of foot patrols to help preserve law and order. 

But he says a failure to invest in the areas surrounding the town has resulted in First Nations people flooding into the town, in some cases from other nearby states as he told Ngaarda media’s Conrad Maclean.
