First Nations people with disabilities struggle to self-isolate against COVID-19

Growing concerns are afoot for First Nations and Indigenous people with disabilities not being able to adequately prevent themselves from contracting the coronavirus in remote communities, due to limited access to medical equipment and essential services.

The national Indigenous disability peak advocacy organisation, First Peoples Disability Network (PFDN) are calling on all state, territory and federal government agencies to provide better financial support, culturally safe and accurate information and to fast-track the implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme’s Aboriginal Community Connectors initiative.
