Battle lines drawn over same sex adoption in NSW

Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore has amended the same sex adoption bill that will be introduced to NSW parliament on Thursday. The bill now exempts religious adoption agencies from anti discrimination laws, allowing them to refuse same sex couples adoption services. But the NSW Council of Churches was at Parliament today protesting the bill, saying that exempting religious groups is not enough, and that the bill should not be passed. Legal experts, charities and same sex lobby groups say they’ve mis-understood the bill entirely.
