Another aged care worker and resident have tested positive to COVID-19 at Arcare Maidenstone Home in North-West Melbourne, highlighting the low vaccination rates of residents and workers in the state’s aged care homes. The virus was first detected on a “mystery” worker in the home on Sunday and since then the federal government has been racing to inoculate residents and staff of the home. With almost seventy percent of elderly residents in Arcare Maidenstone now having received the first vaccine they have set a new vaccination record. The severity of this recent outbreak has revealed lapses in the government’s COVID-19 vaccination rollout to aged care homes.
