The theme of chucking between Australia and India continues, with Prime Minister Gillard handing Indian Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar the prestigious Order of Australia Medal. There are debates however over the legitimacy and timing of this agreement, with Independent MP Rob Oakshott deeming it ‘soft diplomacy’.
Other skeptics think there is simply a problem at the ground level, with groups such as the Women’s Leadership Institute declaring that there is an insidious under-representation of women in both the nomination and award-winning stages.
