Rudd supports expansion of nuclear power in Russia

The Australian Greens and Conversation Foundation have criticised the idea of Australia selling uranium to Russia. The issue is being debated at a Federal Parliamentary Inquiry held today by the Parliamentary Treaties Committee. As one of five courtiers, in possession of nuclear weapons, to have signed the non-proliferation treaty, Russia must adhere to strict guidelines in regard to their use of nuclear power. Despite its strong stance against nuclear production in Australia the Rudd government has endorsed Russia’s expansion of their nuclear power industry.
