Can sport help close the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australian? The House of Representative has launched an inquiry to see whether sport can be used to further improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander wellbeing by encouraging mentoring, community engagement and physical activity. The AFL currently leads the way in community engagement with more than 90,000 participants involved in its Indigenous Program. The inquiry will look into whether sports can have an impact on non-elite athletes at the grass roots level.
