The environment and agriculture are often the focus of discussions around water flows and allocations throughout the Murray Darling river basin.

But, for many communities along the river system, there is something more spiritual. For First Nations peoples, it is a place of connection and culture, for others it’s a place of recreation and peace.

The town of Wilcannia, on Barkindji country in western New South Wales, has seen the boom and bust of river flows and experienced its effects first hand.
