For eight years, Wiradjuri Traditional Owner of Lake Cowal and the surrounding lands in central New South Wales, Neville “Chappy” Williams has been fighting Canadian mining company, Barrick Gold. He’s not only concerned about the destruction of sacred sites, but also the local water supply. Now he has joined other Indigenous campaigners from PNG and Canada who have been fighting similar battles in their own countries. They recently took their complaints to the UN.
