You’ll see it on the walls and fences any town or city across Australia…Graffiti is costing TENS of millions to clean up every year and New South Wales Premier Morris Iemma has had enough.He’s planning new laws to try and stop hardware stores selling spray paint to young people.NSW already has heavy penalties for graffiti – fines of over two thousand dollars or 6 months in jail, but this hasn’t deterred the growing band of painters, taggers and bombers.Dr Mark Halsey is a criminologist at Melbourne University who has studied how the law deals with graffiti. He’s speaking here with Mark Robinson.
