Australians in remote communities will have the rare opportunity to be part of an international medical trial. Clinical trials are usually based in cities, so people in remote areas miss out. But this research will include 20 regional, remote and city-based hospitals across Australia to recruit 200 patients. The aim is to improve health outcomes for heart attack patients by trialing a  new generation of drug called Ticagrelor. The South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute will supervise the trial.
