The Prime Minister announced that a new position of National Commissioner for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people will be created this year

The commissioner will be tasked with safety and welfare of Indigenous children in out of home care.  Not only will the commissioner be looking after young people’s rights and well being but will be  “calling on their strengths, sense of hope and ideas for change,”  he said
