Aircraft engineers defend their territory against Qantas sale

The sale of Qantas might be looking a little shaky today but a Senate committee continues to examine how such a sale would affect Qantas workers and passengers. Aircraft engineers are one group worried about what will happen if their jobs are moved offshore. The Senate committee was told yesterday that Singapore contractors had used prisoners to clean planes, a claim denied by Qantas management. Federal Secretary of the Australian Licensed Aircraft Engineers Associaition Steve Purvinas says since then his office has been flooded with similar claims.
