Al Nakbah is Arabic for the Great Catastrophe – it is commemorated every year on may 15th – today – by displaced Palestinians all over the world. This year will be the sixtieth anniversary of the day they lost their land and their homes to the new state of Israel, and vigils and events are being held all over Australia and the world. University of Adelaide lecturer Dr Bassam Dally is part of a group of Australian Palestinians who have today made a public call to the Federal Government to pass a motion recognising the suffering of the Palestinian people.
