Almost 1,000 women in Sydney attended the International Women’s Day breakfast this morning organised by the United Nations Development Fund for Women. Guest speaker, Dr Elsina Wainwright of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, spoke about the role of women in peace making and nation building in the South Pacific. She said women must be encouraged to have a greater role in formal peace processes and aid funds must be directed towards women, as well as men, to build lasting peace in the South Pacific.
