Sexual violence against women is largely ignored in Australian media, but recent rape allegations in both NSW and Victoria against rugby players has seen it reported on the front page. Although attitudes have largely changed for the better, given Australian rugby league captain Darren Lockyer’s comment on Friday, there is still a long way to go. The NSW Rape Crisis Centre began 30 years ago in Redfern and currently takes 4,000 calls a year on it’s 24 hour phone service. Kim Shaw spoke to Rape Crisis Centre manager, Karen Willis.
