“It’s a Lifestyle Choices” was a comment made by Tony Abbot that got the whole of Australia up in arms. It drew attention to the Government’s insensitivity to Indigenous Australians and the plan to close remote communities. Today, many Aboriginal communities gather in Wingellina to say to the WA government that they will not be used as a political football. Lizzie Ellis; protest organiser, says the government treats them as if they are refugees. “This is our land and we are not going to be push around, we want our government to take us seriously and treat us with respect”. The protest will follow by a brush BBQ dinner and an overnight camp.
