The campaign’s only been going for 30 hours and already it seems that the 24th of November can’t come soon enough – after all the speculation, election has finally been called. The Rudd Labor team is significantly ahead in the polls but six weeks is a very long time in politics and anything could happen between now and then. Even less certain is what the make up of the Senate will look like. The latest election saw the balance of power switch to the party holding office, for the first time in 30 years. But according to Dean Jaensch, retired professor of Political and International Studies at Flinders University, one thing that is likely to come out of the election is that neither major party will hold the balance of power.
