Pro-democracy protestors across Yemen are celebrating the departure of President Ali Abdullah Saleh, who has ruled over them for 33 years. The leader was evacuated to a hospital in Saudi Arabia on Friday after being seriously injured in a rocket attack on his presidential compound. It isn’t known who was behind the attack or whether Saleh will return, but it is clear Yemen faces an uncertain future. Nearly 400 people have been killed in unrest since January, and escalating clashes between tribal groups and loyalist military forces have led some observers to predict a civil war is imminent.
