Just in case you haven’t heard, the federal budget was released this week. Treasurer Wayne Swan stood up in Parliament and announced his battlers’ budget to a chorus of “Here Heres” from the government and cat calls from the opposition. If you could even read the budget through the political mud slinging, there are handouts and surpluses, the dreaded carbon tax and axed tax cuts. And as the final curtain of the budget circus prepares to close , the Leader of the opposition Tony Abbot had his say.

Both the budget and the reply were met with mixed reviews, but either way, there’s an interesting year ahead in politics.
