Victoria introduces spent convictions bill to parliament

Victoria will soon become the last state in Australia to allow its citizens to not declare past certain convictions over ten years old.

Currently Victorian Police control what information from a person’s criminal record will be released and when, but the system has been criticised as lacking consistency and being too open to interpretation.
