The union movement is today celebrating the not guilty verdict handed down by Adelaide magistrate David Whittle in the trial of Ark Tribe – the first person to be charged under federal industrial laws for failing to answer questions about a stop-work meeting. Unions say the win is the first step towards their goal of abolishing the Australian Building and Construction Commission (ABCC) which was set up by the Howard government to regulate the building industry.
