Edward Gough Whitlam died today. After just three years as the Prime Minister of Australia, he left behind a staggering list of reforms and the effects of his policies are still being enjoyed by Australians today. His dramatic dismissal is described as a uniquely ‘bloodless coup’ by veteran journo George Negus, who heard Gough’s immortal words first-hand, standing on the parliament house steps on 11th November 1975.
