Press photography in Australia goes back to the Kelly era, altough before technological advances allowed papers to print photos artists were used to copy the photos. Since then technology has continued to change the lives of press photographers, particularly since the dawn of the digital era. Shooting the Picture records the history of press photography from 1888 till now, and explores whether in an era when everyone has a camera phone and  newspapers crowd source images to save money,  press photography is a profession facing extinction.
