Swimming Australia has come under fire as one of the 57 institutions named by the National Redress Scheme as failing to sign up to financially compensate those who had been abused while in their care.

Currently, 10% of all applications made to the National Redress Scheme is on hold, waiting for institutions to voluntarily opt in to redress those affected.

With the deadline for opting in coming at the end of June 2020, Senator Anne Ruston, Minister for Families and Social Services, is looking at ‘all options’ in order to get as many of the remaining institutions to sign up in time.
