Malalai Joya has a dangerous job – she’s a female member of parliament and women’s rights activist in fundamentalist Afghanistan. Five assasination attempts haven’t stopped her speaking out and trying to get the rest of the world’s attention on to what is really happening in her country. She’s in Australia to promote her book ‘Raising My Voice’ – and her message is that Australia and its allies should not be fooled by Afghanistan’s claims to have become a democracy – she says things are much worse now than they ever were under the Taliban… especially for women.
