Queensland’s proposed bill to identify voters

Indigenous, elderly and young voters could be shut out of the democratic process if a certain bill is passed through the Queensland government. It’s the first in Australia, and when passed, the bill would have voters produce some sort of identification before casting their vote in state elections. Individuals and community groups say that there’s no hard evidence to pursue this move, that the reasons behind the proposal are shaky and the logistics of it are still to be confirmed.
