The Australian Government will tonight consider an open letter signed by hundreds of prominent Australians calling for the return of Australian terrorism suspect David Hicks from the US-run Guantanamo Bay detention centre in Cuba. The letter appeared in several major newspapers today and stated that the treatment of Hicks breached universal human rights. Campaign organiser, Brett Solomon and ABC broadcaster Margaret Pomeranz explained to The Wire why Hicks’ case is important for all Australians.
