Native forests could be at risk as the New South Wales state government introduces a new bill that deregulates the private native logging industry.

If passed, the bill would double the length of logging allowances from 15 to 30 years, and strip power from councils from being able to limit and regulate logging practices.

This bill comes just as all major parties gear up for the 2023 NSW state election.
