Safe-access zones around abortion clinics will reduce stress from patients and workers.

This week, Labor’s Penny Sharpe MLC and Nationals Trevor Khan introduced a private members bill which will debate whether safe-access zones in abortion clinics are legal in New South Wales. The safe-access zones are already a reality in Victoria, Northern Territory, Tasmania, and the ACT.

While advocacy groups say this is a step on the right path, for many states, like Queensland, this is not a reality, and advocacy and strategies are needed on a national level to raise awareness and take the stigma out of abortion.
