Housing continues to boom – figures out today showed another rise with more than 63000 home finance approvals during April First home buyers again dominated the figures – again. Not surprising considering its still possible, until October at least, to get as much as 21000 dollars from the government to help with your first home purchase. Minister for Housing Tanya Plibersek acknowledges that the government can take much credit for the booming market but says today’s housing figures should be greeted with care considering there may be rocky times ahead for workers. Vice Chair of lobby group National Shelter Mary Perkins says the low end of the market are not really benefiting from the current housing bubble and that the first home owners grant needs to be more finely targeted so that new houses go to people who need them and to places where plenty of services are available.
