Religous schools have been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons recently, with numerous allegations of sexual abuse. But many other children in these schools have suffered different forms of abuse. Teacher Robert Parsons grew up in the Catholic School system, and now teaches in that same system. He’s written a novel called Madigan Perry’s Luck that highlights a horrifying and entrenched system of corporal punishment that used to exist in Australian church schools.
