Indonesia and East Timor agree to forget war atrocities

The long awaited Committe on Truth and Friendship delivered its report this week. It deals with the militia violence that happened in east Timor in 1999. In a very diplomatic conclusion the report says there was violence but there will be no repercussions for those respsonsible. Associate Professor Damien Kingsbury from the the School of International and Political Studies at Deakin University says East Timorese people may not be as happy to accept the findings, as many of the perpetrators are free and in many cases have actually been promoted.
