The Custody Notification Service is a 24-hour hotline providing legal and welfare support to Indigenous Australians in police custody. It’s currently only available in NSW and the ACT, but legal campaigners have been calling for national implementation. Instead, they face losing the service altogether, with government funding due to end on June 30th. Advocates say it’s too important to lose.
