Henry Tax Review: Government spurns equitable super

Its not only the opposition saying that the government lacked courage in its tax policy announcements yesterday. Welfare groups and advocates for those on low incomes say that the government has missed the opportunity to construct a more equitable superannuation system. While the changes will see low income earners receive a bonus in their super accounts, tax lurks for the top end of town remain in place. Ken Henry recommended extensive changes to iron out the inequalities in the existing system, but the government has proposed more modest reforms.
