Healing Centres could replace drug lockups in Queensland

With indigenous people now representing almost 28% of prison populations, many are calling the situation a crisis. However traditional prison rehabilitation has rarely worked in the past.

Now, a proposal is before the Queensland government to replace traditional prisons with ‘healing centres’, in the hopes that the change will help reduce the rates of re-offending. The Holistic Justice and Community service explained what would make these centres more effective.
