Austin Mackell is a freelance journalist who’s been covering the Arab Spring. He found himself in trouble in March this year when Egyptian authorities arrested him on the charge of inciting unrest. They alleged Mackell paid children to throw rocks at police stations.

Mackell was placed under a travel ban pending investigations into his alleged crime, but the charges have now been dropped ahead of a visit from Foreign Affairs Minister Bob Carr.
