The Australian Transport Safety Bureau today released its verdict on the cause of the Shen neng 1, the Chinese ship which floundered on the Great Barrier Reff last year. It makes some safety recommendations but Darren Kindleysides from the Australian Marine Conservation Society says the report’s recommendations should be widened to include mandatory Australian pilots for ships moving through the reef.
