Corporate welfare survives the “age of entitlement”

The latest budget included large cuts to entitlements, notably social services and healthcare. But the subsidies and grants to small business remained. As part of the government’s Investment and Competitiveness Agenda, five hundred million dollars will be doled out to small businesses over the next five years. The money is allocated towards subsidies and grants for research and other services. But according to critics, this is not only corporate welfare but immoral at a time when the rest of the country is being told to tighten their belts.
