Charity windfalls come with greater compliance

In 2015-2016 Australians donated $12.5 billion dollars to charities and not for profit organisations, enabling them to do vital community work without government help.

Yet the number of registered charities is also growing (55000 at last count) in what is a highly competitive market for a limited pool of donor dollars.

There are concerns that this reliance on our generosity is leading sometimes to compassion fatigue, and that consumers need reassurance that they are giving to charities who operate with integrity and transparency.
