Three migrant workers employed under the federal 457 visa scheme have died in the past month, according to the construction union, CFMEU. The controversial visa program allows employers to bring foreign skilled staff into Australia for temporary work. The union believes the deceased workers were exposed to inadequate safety standards because they were employed under this program. But these claims were quickly shot down today by Government officials, who say the union is trying to interfere with the success of the scheme so they can take greater control of the workplace.
