What do you do when you are a witness to a conflict that seems beyond your control? How do you express that you just want to see it stop? For people around the world the conflict in Gaza leaves a sense of both helplessness and horror… and the lingering question of what can I do to help? For the survivor of a terror attack in London the answer is to Cease.

Adelaide woman Gill Hicks lost both her legs in the London bombings of 2005. Her response was to think deeply about notions of hatred and retribution, and start a campaign to bring about peace. Now the latest conflict in Gaza has spurred her to start a new movement, inspired by the two-hour cease-fire which she says saved so many lives. And she wants global citizens to join her in ceasing all activity for two hours on August 9 to show the world how many people just want peace.
