The detention of Dr Mohamed Haneef has continued as a hot topic today with Prime Minister John Howard saying he is comfortable with the suspect’s 11 day detention stint without charge because, he says terrorism has changed the concept of war and the laws which hold Dr Haneef are there in response to a whole new combat zone. Yesterday we spoke with the Law Council of Australia about their anguish over the seemingly indefinite detention of Dr Mohamed Haneef, who was arrested, but not yet charged, over alleged connections to the parties involved in the Glasgow and London Terror attacks last week. Today we speak to Amnesty International Australia about being detained without charge and the liklihood of receiving the presumption of innocence in a fair trial under these circumstances.
