There are some women for whom breast cancer is almost a certainty. They carry a specific genetic mutation that makes their bodies more susceptible to developing the disease. But a new study conducted by Professor John Hopper at Melbourne University has found that the pill actually reduces the chance of breast cancer in these women. This finding goes against the widely held belief that oral contraceptives increase the chance of the disease. But Professor Hopper says a lot more research still needs to be done.
