Bilingual schools in the Northern Territory are set to be radically modified under new plans from the territories Education Minister Marion Scrymgour. She says the bilingual schools have the worst results of schools in remote areas, and that it’s time for change. Many children in remote areas speak several languages and come to school with little or no English. But there are many supporters of bilingual schools that think the minister has missed the point when it comes to Indigenous Education.
