The guidelines for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder are currently under review. But questions have been raised about the integrity of the committee that are setting the new guidelines. Seven of the 10 members have received significant grants – such as airfares, hotels and overseas trips – from companies that make drugs to treat ADHD. The chair of the committee, Dr David Forbes, maintains that the committee’s links to pharmaceutical giants will not impact on the findings of the review. But doctors maintain that the draft guidelines suggest otherwise.
