Often when someone is feeling ill they might head to their local GP in hope of receiving antibiotics to make them feel better as soon as possible. This constant expectation could create the potential for a global problem of resistant bacteria – a superbug apocalypse. With half of all antibiotic use in Australian hospitals found to be wrongly prescribed, infectious disease experts are urging this issue to be higher on the nation’s list of priorities.
