This week is national homeless persons week, and there are events planned around the country that aim raise awareness about the many reasons why people become homeless. The reasons are diverse – from high rents to problems with addiction – and if the solutions are to work, they need to target these different causes. But many homeless people have a common problem – the services available to them are disconnected and temporary. Many end up in a revolving door of services that doesn’t provide them with what they most need – a permanent place to call their own.
